Love this place. It's a local staple for Tex-Mex flavor. Their chori dip (cheese dip with chorizo) is outstanding. I always need to pace myself with it and their delicious tortilla chips to save room for the meals. Their San Luis Fundido dish is perfect between the rice, cheese and meat. If you can't decide, they also offer combination dinners with a mix of what you'd enjoy such as tacos and enchiladas. If you're feeling seafood, their simple shrimp cóctel is quite nice too! Service has always been great and the ambience is nice even after their expansion. Worth a visit.

I haven't had an issue with ordering here thus far. I love the lunch menu prices and sizes. Wish there was a little more flexibility with additions or substitutions on lunch menu. They are very timely with orders and the place is pretty clean as well.

They aren't breaking any new ground in Mexican cuisine here, but the menu is huge, the blended salsa is good, the chips are always fresh, they cook fish quite well, and I love the chipotle chicken -- just the right level of spice and very tangy. The decor is, let's say eclectic, but brings back memories of those places I went to as a youngster in the '80s when Mexican restaurants had a real heyday. The staff here is always extremely friendly and efficient as well.

I don't understand the mediocre reviews. The food is always abundant and tasty and the servers are always attentive and helpful. Now the salsa is bland but you can get the non Gringo salsa at no extra cost. That salsa is definitely not bland. This is my go to Mexican Restaurant in Greensboro.

San Luis II was one of our regular haunts for years, but after moving first to Trinity, NC and then to Wallburg, this just fell off our radar. But last night our adult daughter suggested that it would be the ideal location for a meet-up with her family, including our new, two-day old granddaughter! Man, has this place changed! Gone are the massive soccer (futbol) trophies and dark interior, replaced by bright and clean and now MASSIVE spaces, brought about by the enclosure of the front wrap-around porch and the old side courtyard. Of course none of that matters if the food isn't still good, and on that count I can confirm that they still do an excellent job serving hot, fast and tasty plates of Mexican food. Five of our grandkids ordered everything from the children's menu, including quesadillas, chicken fingers (which they make fresh!) and even a hamburger. The rest of us had typical fair, including my excellent choice of steak Alambre, which I shamefully consumed with about an entire basket of chips! Speaking of chips, as always they are hot, fresh and plentiful. The only negative for this Coke Zero lover is that they have Pepsi products, but at least they had Diet Dr. Pepper.

My husband and I stopped in here for lunch today. We were greeted and seated immediately. We chose several items from the menu to try. The chips came out hot which was nice. The salsa was good too. Our waitress was very attentive as well. We got the guacamole ranchero which was very fresh and delicious. We later found out that our waitress had made it herself! I had the pork carnitas which were perfect. My husband had the taco salad and a side of shrimp which he said was very good. The restaurant was clean and inviting to customers. It was a great experience for us and we highly recommend this place.

So we decided as a family to go to San Luis 2 as it had an outdoor patio, apparently they did a remodel during the early part of COVID and part of that was to remove the patio and make a larger inside section with a huge bar. While this area looks really nice, this in my opinion was a bad idea during this pandemic as people are looking for outdoor options to be safer. As we had already driven there, we decided to just eat inside and ask to be sat far away from other guests. They were accommodating and sat us in the now big bar area (where patio was). Tables were blocked off for social distancing, hand sanitizer stations set up, and the staff were wearing masks. This made me feel better about eating inside. The remodel does look very nice, the exterior was cleaned up, everything is repainted inside, the tables upholstery has been replaced, added big screen TV's, and more. I did notice when looking at the menu that prices have increased slightly (I go to San Luis a lot). I decided to order my go-to when I am trying to be healthy which is the Brochetas (two skewers charbroiled with shrimp, chicken, mushrooms, onions, and zucchini). Typically, it is covered in a BBQ type sauce, but I asked for that on the side. I also substituted the rice for beans (they actually do offer black beans at this location, which makes me happy). The dish also comes with guacamole salad. This is a huge, delicious, and visually striking plate of food. So many bright colors, it makes you wanna dig in. I always get at least two meals out of this dish. I still get my craving for Mexican cuisine satisfied without breaking my diet. My husband got the Enchiladas Rancheras (three cheese enchiladas topped with tender pork tips, cooked tomatoes, onions, bell peppers, and enchilada sauce). You get a choice of rice and beans or guacamole salad. This is the dish I typically get when I am not being healthy. It has a LOT of cheese, which isn't a bad thing depending on what you are going for. It is a very filling and decadent dish. The stewed vegetables mixed with the pork and cheese is just incredible. It all just works so well together. I convinced my brother to order this dish as well and he was not disappointed. Another common order of mine is their fajitas. My sister in law got the Chicken and Steak fajitas. It is always a huge portion that arrive sizzling on a skillet. Sometimes I find the meat is less flavorful then other times, but overall solid. You also get a plate full of rice, beans, source cream, and guacamole salad. Service here is solid, drinks stayed full and they will give you chips and salsa until you make them stop. I am happy to recommend San Luis 2 if you are more on this side of Greensboro. The remodel makes it even more appealing, but I will miss the patio!
